Serena Ryder is an artist I decided to check out after seeing a promo for an appearance on The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos. I love the strength and range of her voice, and have fallen in love with her songwriting capabilities. After hearing some clips on her site, I was hooked. It being nearly my birthday, my incredibly thoughtful boyfriend went and got me one of her CDs. After listening to it many, many times, I realized I loved each and every song. This is not of of those albums where I skip to the next track because it's my favorite and I only sorta liked the track currently playing. She has 3 other albums that I am looking forward to adding to my collection.
Here are two YouTube videos, featuring songs from two of her albums. One is the "Just Another Day" from the album "Unlikely Emergency" (which is the one I have) and the other is a cover of "Good Morning, Starshine" from her "If Your Memory Serves You Well" album. Enjoy!
